Nennig is a graduate of Wrightstown High School. Nennig collected a career .440 batting average while also holding Wrightstown school record for single season (.508). In addition to batting average, Nennig also holds Wrightstown career records for most runs scored, hits, RBIs, home runs, stolen bases, and wins.
As a four-year starting shortstop at The Ohio State University, Nennig helped the Buckeyes secure a Big Ten Championship as well as holding Big Ten honors. In 2016 tournament, Nennig was named 1st Team All-Big Ten (Shortstop) while holding Big Ten Tournament all-time single game and tournament stolen bases record. Nennig’s professional debut was with River City (MO) of the Frontier League.
